Pizza Hut was founded in 1958 by two college students, Dan and Frank Carney, in Wichita, Kansas. They borrowed $600 to open the first location, and then quickly grew into the largest pizza chain in the world. By the early 1970s, Pizza Hut was everywhere, thanks to its family-friendly dining atmosphere and consistent quality.

Later, Pizza Hut partnered with schools for a reading program. The more books the kids read, the more points they earned toward a family pizza. The pandemic really hit the restaurant and it looks more like a lunchroom now, with delivery the main business. It’s too bad they lost the family style. That was half the fun of dining there.
